My forever yes.
It was late June, we were planning a day for him to meet my girls (as my boyfriend because they already knew him as my friend’s neighbor) when life had happened, my eldest daughter was having an allergic reaction I called him on the phone getting ready to wake up all the girls to go to the ER at 11:00 at night, he then said I know this wasn’t the meeting we had planned but bring them over, I’ll get the sleeping bags set up in the living room.
“Babe no, you have to wake up early, you have work tomorrow and I don’t want to get in the way of your routine”
to that he said
“You’re my routine”
He stayed up the entire time, checking on us at the hospital and updating me on the girls.
A few days later we had the meeting we planned, he took everyone out to breakfast and the park afterwards.
I sat back and just let their relationship form, they talked, laughed, played and by the end of the day I had their approval. “When are you guys getting married?” my eldest girl said with a chuckle.
It was August 15th, seemed like a pretty ordinary Tuesday date night at first, little did I know that a few weeks prior Dylan had asked my oldest girl’s permission to marry their mama. They gave him his first forever yes.
That day they wanted a bigger say with what I wore that day, they wanted to pick my outfit, make sure my makeup and hair looked perfect as he had told them to make sure mommy looks how she would want to look in pictures.
He picked me up and like always we were going to head to our favorite spot downtown to grab dinner, coffee and do some reading.
Shortly after we sit down Dylan looks at me, stands up and says “Heather, I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my days being your husband and the girl’s father figure. He then got on his knee and says “will you be my wife?”
I’ve never been so sure, so confident, so without a doubt to a yes, a forever yes.
